When a workstation terminal or server is not performing well, it is bad enough, but if there are still attendant challenges in the network, the irritations are piling up and the focus is no longer in the right place … namely the core business.

To make an efficient and competent network design, there should always first be asked the right questions;
- What needs does the organization have as a whole, now and in the future?
- Will the organization grow or shrink?
- What services will the organization provide to the employees?
- Will they use new applications?
- What do they need to do their work the best, in the office or outside?
- What budget is available?
Etc.
This is only a small number of questions from all we want to know, before we can make a network design.
