Since 2013, Xindao has had an MPLS WAN-connection of 4mb. However, this data line has never really performed as was specified. The main assessment criteria is: pricing, reliability, and speed.
At Xindao, we have had a centralization issue. Our head office in Rijswijk is hosting, via Citrix, workspaces for the employees in Shanghai. Thus the reason for choosing the above assessment criteria.
In mid-2016, Bradon drew the attention of Xindao with a new connectivity service to address these criteria. Bradon introduced Xindao with one of their premier service provider partners, Aryaka, who provides connectivity services worldwide.
The service is based on a number of technical highlights and by means of compression and data acceleration technology, the bandwidth can be scaled up or down. This was an excellent fit for our need to centralize our subsidiary in Shanghai. Speed and reliability were a must in this process. The framework of “value for money” is a priority to Xindao. So, the sharp value only grew our interest.
In the form of a “Proof of Concept”, the service was implemented and compared side-by-side with the performance of the old data line. The results were above and beyond what our expectations were. Several test runs showed that the speed was increasing with respect to the benchmark by a factor of 4 to 5.
The latency is also very stable, the reliability seems fine but a true assessment of the reliability can only be determent after the service has been running for a whole year.
Finally, this service has a considerable flexibility: The bandwidth can quickly be scaled up and down on-demand. This is very attractive when considering upcoming data migrations or handling large data files.
